Like wheat swaying gently in an Indiana prairie breeze, Pure Grain will blow into Peach’s Grill in Yellow Springs this weekend to perform its brand of homespun, feel-good tunes and promote its latest release, Indiana Sun. Fans of country, classic rock and jam bands will not want to miss this eclectic act from Bright, Indiana. Made up of Sol Records proprietor and drummer Brian DeBruler and his wife, Michelle D’Amico, her sister Courtney D’Amico and long-time friends Scott Siefferman on guitar and bassist Tony Nasser, the band is truly a family affair.
“It’s very real and genuine, what we’re doing,” DeBruler says. “We’re right in the southern boot heel of Indiana, so there’s a lot of Appalachian influence around here culturally…this area and how we grew up definitely influences us. My family originally came up from Kentucky and further south and my wife is the same — and pretty much everybody in the band.”
Indiana Sun shows off Pure Grain’s ability to craft fine little ditties like “Summer Song” and “Long Time Comin’.” The 10 songs on the album carry you to a hammock, sippin’ moonshine and lemonade out of a Mason jar.
